Standlee Hay Company Alfalfa Pellets are bright green high density pellets that are easy to digest and are recommended for horses and animals requiring maximum energy requirements but not intended to be used as a sole source of nutrition. The alfalfa pellets can be used as a supplement to stem hay and should be fed by weight, not volume. Animals vary in daily nutritional needs. These pellets can be made into a mash by adding warm water, for seniors or animals with dental issues and for animals which eat too rapidly that are prone for choking. They can also be used as a top dressing for other feeds. Recommended feeding amounts are 1% to 2% of animals body weight fed daily, again depending on nutritional needs of the animal.
