Position Description:
The incumbent leads the entire domestic sales effort and the field and office sales staff at Standlee Hay Company. He/she leads the company’s growth to achieve substantial sales goals.
The incumbent reports to the CEO of the company. This person is also a member of the company Management Board and advises and updates the Board on sales performance and on sales and marketing issues. The person creates and manages the department Budget.
Requirements:
- B.S. college degree (business, marketing or sales) or equivalent.
- 10 + years sales and sales leadership experience.
- Hay/equine forage industry experience preferred. Agriculture experience required.
- Demonstrated record of personal goal achievement and as a sales leader.
- Demonstrated record of stimulating sales growth in a stalled environment.
- Demonstrated experience creating and staffing a complete national sales program.
- Demonstrated Budget creation and management experience.
- Demonstrated sales training experience.
- Demonstrated success in managing and growing direct headquarters accounts, and increasing volume through retail outlets.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a management team of peers and to take direction from the CEO.
- Is willing to travel representing the company as much as 2 weeks/month.
- Will live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Eden, Idaho company headquarters office, and will work from that office.
Reporting Responsibility:
- The incumbent reports directly to the CEO of the company.
- All of the domestic sales staff, field and office, report to the incumbent.
-The incumbent is a member of the company Management Board, led by the Vice President and the CEO.

Accountability:
- Is responsible for Sales human resources including the hiring, training, leading, inspiring and management of each person in the sales operation.
-Is responsible for delivering company sales that meet or exceed budget expectations.
-Is responsible for maintaining and improving the gross profits of product sales by managing promotion costs.
- Creates and manages the annual Sales Budget and gains approval for it from the CEO.
- Builds trust and a spirit of cooperation among the field and office sales staff and all other company employees.
- Represents the company in and participates in industry sales organizations.
Specific Immediate Challenges:
- Create a national sales and resource distribution plan that reflects company strengths and values, and enables significant volume growth in the short term, and going forward.
- Fill each position with current or newly hired persons who are highly qualified, enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven.
- Foster relationships of trust and mutual respect with key national accounts, with other valued headquarters customers, and with retail store managers and sales people.
- Work closely and cooperatively with the Company Vice President, Vice President- Standlee Trading Company, Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and the General Managers of Logistics and Operations to improve product consistency, order delivery accuracy, and on-time delivery to customers.
- Become the regular point of communication between Sales and Operations, Logistics, Finance and Accounting departments.
- Create sales budgets and quotas that are achievable but that require significant effort by sales professionals.
- Create relationships of trust, respect and cooperation with the other members of the management group.
- Learn the industry, the customers, company values, company products and expectations.
Compensation:
The incumbent will be paid a monthly salary commensurate with others in the industry and representative of the person’s professional experience.
The incumbent will also be eligible to earn bonus income based on meeting mutually agreed goals between the CEO and the incumbent.
The incumbent will be eligible to receive personal and family health benefits and additional company benefits including paid vacation and designated holidays when the company office is closed.
