Horses: We recommend that you feed by weight and not by volume. 1% to 2% of a horse’s weight should be fed daily in hay forages. This amount may vary depending on the animal’s nutritional needs and the horse’s activity. Therefore if a horse weighs 1,000 lbs and is a performance horse, 20lbs of forage would be sufficient. Always use the concept, “a pound of hay is still a pound of hay regardless of its form”. Make feed changes gradually over a period of no less than 7 days.
Cattle: Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes are generally fed as a portion of the dietary forage along with hay and or pasture. We recommend feeding Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes by weight and not by volume .25% to .50% of the animal’s body weight daily.
Sheep and Goats: Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes should be fed as a portion of the dietary forage along with hay and or pasture. We recommend feeding by weight and not by volume .25% to .50% of the animal’s body weight daily.
Small mouthed animals or as a treat: Sprinkle the Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes with water for young animals and animals with smaller mouths. Feed by weight and not by volume. Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes can be fed as a treat for positive reinforcement or reward.
Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes should be sprinkled with water for animals with dental issues, and for animals that eat too rapidly or that are prone to choke. Alfalfa/Timothy Mini Cubes are easy to feed, store and take when transporting animals.
Consult with your veterinarian or nutritionist to develop a total heath care and nutrition program and anytime changes are made to an animal’s normal diet. Provide fresh clean water at all times.
