FEEDING GUIDELINES

Feeding animals is a science. We at Standlee Hay Company provide some of the finest forage based products on the market. It is our intention to offer information about how to use these products bdesigned around basic animal nutrition but all animal owners and caretakers should base their nutritional programs on advice from veterinarians and specialists on their species of animals. All feeding programs should be introduced gradually over a period of at least 7 days and should include lots of clean, fresh water. Our products are intended to be a valuable part of a good nutrition program but not to be used as a sole source of nutrition. Each animal is an individual with different physical requirements that should be considered when undertaking a feeding program.

Alfalfa Hay Cubes

The Standlee Hay Company takes pride in providing quality premium products, produced from Idaho grown "Noxious Weed Free" hay forages. These forages are grown to specific maturity. Our harvesting and storage techniques provide assurance in producing products that are highly palatable with good nutritional value. Standlee Hay Company Alfalfa Hay Cubes are bright green cubes that are easy to digest and are recommended for horses, cattle and other animals needing maximum energy requirements but not intended to be used as a sole source of nutrition.

Alfalfa cubes can be used as a supplement to stem hay and should be fed by weight, not volume. These cubes can be sprinkled with water to soften for seniors, animals with dental issues and for animals that may eat too rapidly or that are prone for choking. Recommended feeding amounts are 1% to 2% of the animals' body weight fed daily, depending on the varying nutritional needs of individual animals. Provide plenty of fresh clean water at all times. Make feed changes gradually over a period of 7 days. Alfalfa cube bags can be easily stored and are convenient for traveling.

Consult with your veterinarian or nutritionalist to develop a total health care and nutritional program that includes regular deworming, vaccination and dental care. Standlee Hay Company meets Idaho State Certification procedures/standards and follows the North American Noxious Weed Free Program.

Beet Pulp Pellets

The Standlee Hay Company provides quality products from outside producers such as Beet Pulp Pellets. Standlee Hay Company Beet Pulp Pellets originate from Idaho grown sugar beets. These pellets are made from the fibrous material (beet pulp) left over after the sugar is extracted from the sugar beet. Pellets are formed from dried sugar beet pulp with a small amount of molasses added during the drying process.

These pellets are an excellent source of digestible fiber, with relatively low crude protein content. Beet pulp pellets can be a helpful dietary supplement depending on the varying nutritional needs of individual animals. Beet pulp pellets are great for horses known as hard keepers or other animals that need to gain weight. Additionally, beet pulp pellets are a great choice for convalescing horses or while recovering from an illness or surgery. Beet pulp pellets can be soaked in cold water for two hours with a ratio of 2 parts water with 1 part pellets (all water should be absorbed by the pellets) to soften for seniors, animals with dental issues and for animals that may eat too rapidly or that are prone for choking. Soaked pellets can be added to the animals grain ration for added appeal. Soaked pellets can be drained and rinsed until they lighten in color for low non structured carbohydrate diets. Store soaked pellets in the refrigerator or make only as much as can be used for a feeding as pellets can ferment in warm conditions.

Provide plenty of fresh clean water at all times. Make feed changes gradually over a period of 7 days. Beet Pulp Pellet bags can be easily stored and are convenient for traveling.
